IN THE FIRST YEAR STUDENTS STUDY:

Component 1 Portfolio: Students will create a body of art work that demonstrates their knowledge, skills and understanding of a range of art and design processes, materials and techniques. Work will be presented in a portfolio for assessment and university courses. Students will be encouraged to be creative and independent in their work.

IN THE SECOND YEAR STUDENTS CONTINUE TO STUDY ALL THE FIRST YEAR TOPICS PLUS:

The Personal investigation: Students are required to conduct a practical investigation, into an idea, issue, concept or theme, supported by written material. The focus of the investigation must be identified independently by the student and must lead to a finished outcome.

Component 2: Externally set assignment: Question papers will be provided by AQA exam board. These will consist of a choice of eight questions to be used as a starting point. Students are required to select one. Students will create a body of creative and exciting work based on this starting point the outcome is completed in a 15 hour unaided, supervised time.

Coursework under examination conditions as well as your portfolio. Time-consuming choice of subject so ensure that you are willing to commit the hours needed.

Useful for any creative degrees and careers as well as marketing. Dentistry also likes this course as fourth subject to show manual dexterity.
