UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE – RESIDENTIAL SUMMER SCHOOL

The aims of the course are to provide additional support for your personal statement to Oxford or Cambridge as well as help you with your entrance tests and essays. You will also get a sense of life at an Oxbridge college.

UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE SUBJECT MASTERCLASSES

These are subject-specific events that offer you a flavour of undergraduate study and an introduction to the University of Cambridge. The Masterclasses provide students with an opportunity to explore topics of interest beyond what is covered within the A Level syllabus including: Chemistry, Engineering, Genetics, Geography, History, Languages, Mathematics, and Psychology.

UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD – ALUMNI VISIT

Each year our former students attending the University co-ordinate a visit and mentoring trip for our potential Oxbridge students. This forms part of our own tailor-made Oxbridge Application Programme.

These are offered to ambitious and hard-working Year 12 students who meet special characteristics such as from low-income backgrounds.  You can take part in Summer schools and Saturday Schools.

This is an opportunity that might well involve a fee but it can be helpful. One day programmes bringing top professionals to UCL to give students an insight into Banking, Business, Law and Medicine.

LONDON SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS (LSE) LAW PROGRAMME (YEAR 12)

The LSE Law Programme is an outreach programme which aims to provide Year 12 with an interest in law access to the legal profession.

STUDENT INVESTOR CHALLENGE

Each year we invite Year 12 to be part of a major competition, organised by the London Institute of Banking and Finance, which can last several months. It will provide an invaluable insight into trading in stocks and shares. The Student Investor Challenge gives you the chance to experience what it’s like being a stock broker in a fast-paced and competitive market. Teams, consisting of four members aged between 14 and 19, take control of two investment portfolios with £100,000 of virtual money for each one to invest in the stock market.

Summer Schools

These are mainly applied mid-year 12 and are aimed at students on a bursary or lower incomes and from areas with low levels of progression to university. Attending a summer school can give you the confidence to make a successful university application.

ETON SUMMER SCHOOL – July in Year 12

For our most highly achieving students in Year 12 with Grade 8/9 at GCSE. Ten day residential at Eton College. The residential course costs but those on a bursary can apply for financial support. The correlation between attending this residential and receiving an Oxbridge offer is very high indeed: the experience is truly challenging and rewarding. Only 120 students can attend and KHS is a partner school. We have sent students almost every year for at least 20 years.

SUTTON TRUST SUMMER SCHOOLS

Fantastic summer schools at one of twelve partner universities (Bristol, Cambridge, Durham, Edinburgh, Imperial, KCL, Nottingham, Oxford, St. Andrews, UCL, Warwick, Royal Veterinary College) for high achieving students from low or middle income families. The Summer Schools are 100% free. There are 130 different courses across 11 of the UK’s top universities. The dates for the Summer Schools vary by subject and university.
