School Sports Partnership
16th Oct 2023

We started the year meeting with PE staff across the borough. Primary colleagues had a short introduction to Complete PE, an “interactive physical education resource designed to support the implementation of a High Quality Physical Education Curriculum.”

Secondary colleagues got together to plan competitions and leagues for the first part of the year and get an update on current opportunities available to them and their students. The weather has been good to us last half term with only one event being cancelled due to bad weather. We had 485 young people from 20 Primary schools take part in 9 events, across 7 sports. All 9 events were run at Kingsbury High School and were supported by 59 Kingsbury High School Leaders. Events included a Y1/2 Disney inspired Shooting Stars morning, where girls were invited to dress up as their favourite Disney characters and take part in Frozen and Toy Story themed activities with a football at their feet!

We also had the first Year 1 and 2 fun run which was very well attended along with our traditional events like netball, golf, badminton and rugby, the format this year allowed schools to bring multiple teams meaning more young people being active. Over the half term, the Year 12 Higher Sports Leaders were invited to get trained in becoming Tennis Leaders by the National Tennis Association. 7 students signed up and now have the opportunity to support local tennis provision in some of the local parks supported by the NTA. The group really enjoyed the opportunity and are looking forward to building on their tennis leadership skills.
