On Wednesday April 22nd, a group of students, some of whom were chosen and some who signed-up, visited Brunel University for a University and Apprenticeship Fair. Apprenticeship stalls helped us to learn more about the different types of apprenticeships, levels and qualifications you can achieve, as well as career opportunities. Some of the apprenticeship providers included the Metropolitan Police and the Royal Air Force.
However, the trip was not limited solely to insights about apprenticeships. We were also able to learn about the different universities across the United Kingdom (even Welsh universities like Aberystwyth!) The fair was set up in the Sports Hall of Brunel University, where a range of universities shared information about their courses and provided visitors with tote bags, pins and collectables. We had the opportunity to speak to a few university ambassadors, who gave us an insight into the UCAS application process, entry requirements and career opportunities available with each course. It was a great opportunity to have specific questions answered, such as if work experience is part of a course, or whether an entry exam is needed for acceptance. We very much enjoyed the experience!
