Cambridge Union debating competition
24th Jan 2026

On Saturday 24th January, four KHS Year 12 students (Keshav Joshi, Nikolas Adaniloae, Rebecca Druiff and Amisha Mohanathasan) took part in the prestigious full-day Cambridge Schools' debating competition, run by the Cambridge University union. They debated subjects ranging from the merits of compromise to the impact of social media on the feminist movement.

Whilst KHS sadly did not make it through to the next round, all four students acquitted themselves superbly against tough competition. A special mention goes to Keshav and Nikolas, who were successful in winning their debate on whether prison sentences should be lowered for criminals from deprived or high crime areas.
