On Friday, December 5th, KHS hosted its annual "Senior Citizens Christmas Party" in K Hall. The event was expertly led by our Year 13 sports leaders, known as the "red shirts," and provided a wonderful opportunity to welcome residents from local care homes and community groups.
Guests enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea of sandwiches, mince pies, and cakes, alongside engaging activities such as boccia, dominoes, Connect 4, and a festive sing-along. A hearty congratulations went to the residents of Ashton Lodge Home, who successfully defended their title and won the quiz for the second year in a row!
A popular new feature this year was the appearance of six-year-old cockapoo 'Buddy'. Buddy received plenty of attention and strokes, proving the significant mental and emotional benefits therapy dogs offer, including reducing stress, lowering blood pressure, and boosting mood. His presence was a welcome addition and thoroughly enjoyed by all attendees.
Following the success of the party, our Year 13 red shirts will further their commitment to the community by volunteering at local care homes as part of their Level 3 Sports Leadership qualification
