Important Weather Update – Early School Closure on Wednesday and Thursday

23rd Jun 2026

As you may be aware, the Met Office has issued a Red Weather Warning for the next two days due to forecast extreme temperatures. Following careful consideration, we have taken the decision to close the school earlier than usual on Wednesday and Thursday to help ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff.

Arrangements for Wednesday and Thursday

The school day will operate as follows:

  • Lessons 1 and 2 will take place as normal.
  • Extended break: 11:00am – 11:30am
Students will be able to purchase food during this time, including those who receive Free School Meals.
  • Lesson 3: 11:30am – 12:30pm
Normal curriculum lessons will continue as timetabled.
  • Student dismissal: 12:30pm

Students Remaining in School

We understand that some families may require students to remain in school until the normal end of the day. Students who stay must remain for the full afternoon session until 3:05pm.

The following supervised areas will be available:

  • Key Stage 3: OLC (with a break in the canteen at 2:00pm)
  • Key Stage 4: Air-conditioned classrooms (with a break in the canteen at 2:00pm)
  • Key Stage 5: Study Room

Teachers will set work for Period 5 via Google Classroom for students to complete.

Students Collecting Younger Siblings

Students who collect siblings from local primary schools should do so at the relevant dismissal time for those schools. We ask that Kingsbury High School students do not wait outside primary schools before collection times.

Friday 26 June

School will return to normal timings on Friday. Blazers will remain optional.

Additional Information

  • There will be no extended-day activities for the remainder of this week.
  • During the week beginning Monday 29 June, blazers will continue to be optional as temperatures are expected to remain warm.
  • Students should not wear tracksuit tops or sweatshirts as alternatives to blazers.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we respond to these exceptional weather conditions. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and communicate any further updates as necessary.
