Year 13 (Level 3) Results 2023

Students at Kingsbury High School in Year 13 take level 3 qualifications  either A-level or BTEC National. We are extremely pleased with the results for  2023 particularly  as national results were  significantly lower this year. 

2023 Summary

  • 33% of A-level results  were A*-A, above the national average of 27.2%

  • 66%  of    A-level results were A*-B, above the national average  of  53.5%

  • 88% of BTEC National awards were at Distinction* or Distinction, national data not yet available

  • 31% of  BTEC National awards were Distinction*, national data not yet available

  • The ALPs  progress measure for the school has been in the 1-3 range for the last six years running (ALPs use a nine point scale 1-9 where 1-3 are the highest scores)

  • Attainment - 39.42

  • Retention - Academic: 90% and Vocational: 97%

Student destinations

  • Around 90% of Year 13 students progress to university 
  • A third of our students gain a place at research-intensive Russell Group Universities including: Imperial College; UCL; King’s College, London; and Queen Mary, University of London
  • Every year students gain places at Oxford or Cambridge and secure places to study Medicine
  • Last year 1 student won a full scholarship to study Engineering at Stamford University in California (one of the top 10 universities in the world)
  • Many others go on to complete degree apprenticeships (eg. BT and Microsoft) and employment

GCSE Results 2023

Following successful results for Year 13 we were very pleased to receive positive results for our year 11 students.  A brief summary is shown below:

  • The proportion of students gaining a pass in English and mathematics is 63%
  • 25% of grades were the highest grades (grades 9-7), above the nationally published figure of 22%
  • 56% of grades were 'good passes' (grades 9-5), above the nationally published figure of 54%
  • 71% of grades were passes (grades 9-4), above the nationally published figure of 70%

Comparing the 2023 results with 2019 (the last normal set of examination scores), national results are not yet available

  • The average grades students received increased to 47.4 points, national figures are not yet available
  • Student progress* is estimated to be +0.5, which would be our highest ever rate of progress,  national figures are not yet available
  • Our Disadvantaged students' progress* is estimated to be positive which means  our disadvantaged students are making the same progress as all other students do nationally.
