Year 10 and 11 involved in a careers workshop

It is important students receive advice about careers from a range of sources including our own independent Careers Adviser, Mrs Colli. On Wednesday 16 June, a group of over 70 Year 10s were involved in a careers workshop run by Ms Colli and Uxbridge College. Uxbridge College were invited to be involved in the workshop so students could receive careers advice not only about KHS Sixth Form but also about courses we do not offer in School. Students learned about the range of courses on offer from A Levels, apprenticeships and vocational courses as well as new T levels that involve 45 days of work experience. There will be more workshops scheduled in Year 11. The visitors were extremely impressed by the Year 10 group who asked lots of very interesting questions.

On the same day, twenty Year 11 students came back to School to be involved in a separate workshop to support their college applications. We booked a PC room, where students who had not submitted a college application, were supported 1-2-1 with their options ready for September 2021. Students applied for a whole range of courses including BTEC ICT, Business, Health and Social Care, A Levels and a new T level at various colleges including  West Herts, Harrow and Uxbridge. Once again, students listened to the options and weighed them up carefully and impressed the college visitors. Thank you to Mrs Colli, KHS Careers Adviser; careers advisers at Uxbridge College; Mr Das, Stage Leader and Ms Powell; Year Leader as well as Ms Kincaid, Associate Assistant Headteacher for supporting the event.
