High School

Barry Gardiner MP visit to KHS

This morning KHS had the honour of welcoming our local MP Barry Gardiner to the Lower School.

Mr Gardiner was greeted by Mr Thomas, Ms Hurt and Mr McLean and taken on a tour of the Lower School where he was introduced to KHS's  new Article 28 project and shown around the classrooms that will become the home for those students needing the extra support.

This was followed by a group of our student school council speakers meeting with Mr Gardiner and doing a number of presentations. These included an introduction to UNICEF Rights Respecting School, their students' travel plans and the importance of their safety while doing so, as well as talking to the MP about what lockdown meant for them.

"We are excited that Mr Gardiner will support our plea to make the  travelling  between the schools safer. We look forward to working with him on our Travel Plans."

The visit was concluded by a Q&A where Mr Gardiner took on questions from the students.

"It was important to us that Mr Gardiner understood how we feel about exams and the impact Covid 19 has on our mental well being. Young people need the government's support to ensure they grow up to become confident young adults"
