English Language

TRANSITION | FOUNDATION | EXAMINATION | ADVANCED
English Language is essential in developing reading comprehension, articulate speaking and accurate, clear writing. Success in English is crucial to success in subjects across the whole curriculum, allowing students to understand and respond to questions in every subject. English Language also inspires students’ imagination, encouraging originality in creative writing. Through GCSE English Language, students are able to understand and respond to unseen texts from different time periods, both fiction and non-fiction. They are able to write imaginatively and powerfully in a range of forms. A Level English Language fosters the skills of writing analytically and imaginatively at a very high level, giving students the skills needed to bridge the gap between sixth form life and undergraduate study at University.
