Gold Duke of Edinburgh

Kingsbury High offers the Silver Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award and the Gold DofE Award in the Sixth Form.

“The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award has helped countless young people on their sometimes difficult path to adulthood.” HRH The Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh’s awards have run for the past seven decades, inspiring and transforming the lives of millions of young people from all walks of life.

The award is broken down into 4 sections, volunteering, physical, skills and the expedition. The course is based around building independence, motivation, team work and resilience. These are not only fantastic life skills to foster and develop but also superb qualities to be able to describe on a CV or a UCAS reference.

Each area of the course holds new challenges and experiences none more so than the expedition phase. During this phase student’s will experience new parts of the country whilst camping and walking with remote supervision.  If you choose to take part in this course it will be one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences that you will have in the sixth form.

We have two fully funded places for students on Free School Meals or in care with the Local Authority. Applications are competitive.

Gold DoE is a key way to show employers your attitudes and experiences: charity work, leadership, teamwork, resilience, independence as well as grit and determination.
